Port Victoria

Forbidden Character Roles

The following types of roles will not be allowed to be played in Port Victoria. Most can be NPC’d with permission from the Room Controller. Please ask before you do this.

  • » Initiates
  • » Priest-Kings
  • » Kur (can be NPC’d with permission)
  • » Spider People (they live in the Swamp Forest of Ar and therefore not in the vicinity of Port Victoria and would never enter a city)
  • » Urt People (they are not found in the vicinity of Port Victoria and would never enter a city)
  • » Panther Girls (they would never come into a city)
  • » Pygmy (they would only be found in the Schendi)
  • » Canon characters from the books (i.e., Marlenus, Tarl Cabot, et al) and or their children, parents, or any other family member
  • » Animals cannot be played however they can be NPC’d with restrictions. Animals must be reasonable for Port Victoria. Parrots are common but expensive. Fish for garden ponds is acceptable. Wild cats and Jit monkeys would not be welcomed in Port Victoria at all and will be killed on sight.
  • » Minor children can not be roleplayed at all. If we see it, we will report it and boot you immediately. Children can be NPC’d only and with restrictions. Bear in mind of the situation and place you are doing so, such as you may not NPC your child if you have a naked slave girl at your feet, or in an area where a naked slave girl is dancing, as examples. Violating this rule will get you immediately booted and permanently banned.

Forbidden Activities

The following activities will not be allowed to be played in Port Victoria. This will ensure that everyone roleplaying in our home is comfortable and is able to enjoy their roleplay.

  • » Force Posting is rude and unacceptable. Force posting examples include: deciding a person is shouting (if the other person didn’t state they were shouting, then there was no shouting), deciding how a person emotionally reacts (you touch someone, you cannot say in that post, “I touched .... and he/she grew excited” (if the other person didn’t post such reaction, then that reaction did not happen)
  • » Forced Deaths is a type of force-posting primarily targeting noncombatants for no reason other than “Gor is unfair” and other such drivel.
  • » Insta-Finding is absolutely unrealistic. You must make posts starting from a reasonable location (room at the Inn, a restaurant, the market) followed by logical posts to reach another destination. An example is: Person A is conducting business in a smithy. Person B comes into the home, wants to roleplay with that person, but must direct themself from a reasonable starting point, such as being at an Inn, then traveling the proper streets using pulldowns logically to reach the smithy.
  • » Demanding Roleplay/Attention. We are not here for your entertainment. Our members get together for roleplay amongst each other, and while we welcome visitors, do not expect any of us to drop what we’re doing and come running to interact with you. Many times we come in with a specific roleplay in mind, pre-planning to get together or do solo roleplay. If you want to interact, please reach out to the other roleplayer(s) to see if that can happen and how.
  • » Players with an established history of misconduct in the entirety of the Gorean community which include, but is not limited to, bullying/harassment, bigotry, unwilling to keep personal beliefs, religion and politics to themselves, history of ghosting other roleplayers, coercion, threats to control roleplay and/or roleplayers, using roleplay to hunt for cyber sex and/or romantic relationships, disrespecting boundaries of others, and the inability to separate IC from OOC.
  • » Pedophilia. Not only is it forbidden on Portal of Dreams, it’s an illegal activity in most countries. You will be reported accordingly and permanently banned.
  • » Incest. That’s another Gorean nope and such behavior will get you permanently banned.
  • » Consensual Roleplay is a must, and therefore if you are unwilling to respect player limits and consent, then you are not welcomed in Port Victoria.

Discouraged Character Types and Activities

The following character types and activities are frowned upon in Port Victoria. An explanation as to why is provided. These guidelines will ensure that everyone roleplaying in our home is comfortable and is able to enjoy their roleplay.

  • » Playing being a pregnant woman. Too often, a woman has born an NPC child, then gets bored with it and tries to pawn her misery off on members of a home. If you bear NPC children, do not expect the members of Port Victoria to babysit you or the child when it fails. That part of your roleplay is your responsibility.
  • » Playing a character who is disabled, such as being hamstrung, blind or deaf. Such people in the books are noted as not living long as they are shunned by the people for their defects, often considered to be those punished by Priest-Kings. With the Gorean Physicians able to perform rather miraculous surgeries, the enhanced healing abilities found on Gor, these are not feasible characters to play. As such, if you play such a character, do not expect to be accepted into Port Victoria society or find roleplay with members of the home.
  • » Unrealistic characters are at the discretion of the Room Controller. If you have an unusual idea, you must ask permission first.
