Room Rules

Rules For Role-playing In Aftermath Of The Dead

1.

All Portal of Dreams apply; the RL's word is final in all other matters that require resolution.

2.

If you cannot take a name, you cannot role-play - simple as that. Anonymous names will be ignored after a single invitation to take a name. That said, observers with valid names are always welcome.

3.

Anyone posing a disruption will be booted by the RL or PoD management after a single warning to cease and desist.

4.

Out-of-character chatter will happen but should be kept to a minimum during role-play. If a role-player asks you to take OOC to p.m., please respect the request or else face a boot by the RC or PoD Management.

5.

Keep the drama llama in the pen. If you have a personal issue with another role-player, please handle said issue outside the room and/or put the offending party on ignore. If you cannot do so, you will be eaten by a zombie or find a stray bullet. Oops.

6.

Aftermath of the Dead is a zombie survival room with a real-world setting. Although some characters will be more physically fit and better equipped for survival than others, no one will be endowed with superhero special powers. Likewise, aliens, vampires, were-creatures, demons, and other supernatural beings do not exist here.

7.

This is an R-rated room. Although sex can and does happen in survival situations, anything NC-17 and above should be taken to p.m. Similarly, although BDSM and "Gorean" lifestyles do occur in real-world settings, this is not a lifestyles room; such interactions should also be taken to PM. Finally, if a little human-on-zombie action is your thing, again - take it to PM!

8.

You are required to create a character sheet and register your avatar model. Although you are permitted to "test drive" a new character for up to a week, the RC cannot guarantee that your desired avatar model will continue to be reserved beyond the seven day mark if you fail to submit your character sheet. Cross-gender role-play is permitted so long as this is indicated on your character sheet. Please note: there is no character cap; you may create as many characters as you wish. That said, please be considerate to other role-players and retire your un-played characters so those reserved avatar models can go "back on the market."

9.

Feel free to play Rage Virus and zombie characters! Let's face it, they're either rabid and mindless or shambling and mindless - but who hasn't wanted to play undead dress up? Zombie Cheerleader, anyone? Just don't get too attached; the undead are meant to be expendable!

10.

Avatars should be tasteful and reasonably sized. Scanty clothing and implied nudity is fine; bare breasts and crotch-shots are not. PoD's standard avatar size is 550 tall x 750 wide, though the RL will give a bit of leeway within reason, provided you are not walking wallpaper!

11.

No massive damage to permanent settlements without RL consent. To you, it's a meaningless building; to us, it's a landmark!

12.

There are no forced deaths. NPC Ragers and zombies exist for target practice and suspense only, and room members are always welcome to create tense and exciting scenarios using the Storyteller pulldown. Potentially lethal combat between infected or undead characters and human survivalists must be agreed upon by both parties involved. In such a scenario, combat is free form, and good sportsmanship is expected. Possible outcomes are as follows:

  • Humans bitten by Ragers have a 50% chance of resisting the virus due to natural immunity. Roll a single 10-sided die - evens, you're fine; odds, you're a goner and should roll another 10-sider to see how many hours you have before you start to froth at the mouth. Ragers succumb to brain death within 3-7 days and resurrect shortly thereafter.
  • Humans bitten by zombies will die - period. Roll a ten-sided die to see how many hours it takes you to expire and turn.
  • Terminally ill characters may attempt to conceal their wounds or sickness to avoid being "put down" like a rabid dog. If successful in this endeavor, players may continue on as "named" undead characters.
