Portal of Dreams - City of Kamras
Welcome to the ...

THE QUOTES

"When the fog lifted...
There were just three of them making their way towards the city of Kamras after having heard about the city falling due to bickering among the masses.
One was a fallen warrior, one was a woman who had lost it all, the other a slave.  Eventually a rope maker would join them and soon they would be at the gates of Kamras wondering what world waited for them."

"The High Castes in any given City elect an administrator and a council for stated terms.  In times of crisis, a War Chief or Ubar is named, who rules without check and by decree until in His judgement, the crisis is past."

THE BACKSTORY

There are very few quotes in the Books concerning the City of Kamras, but the first one above says much.  At one time the City had fallen because of bickering among the people.  The next quote, which could pertain to almost any City in Gor, can be certainly used in Kamras's present situation.

This leads us to the backstory of Our Home.

Razi, an Ubar of the Tuchuk, is called upon by the City's High Council to lead Kamras out of disarray and back into prosperity.  This is an unconventional idea, but an intriguing one that is met with skepticism by some and hopeful optimism by others.  As you can see by looking at the Gorean Map (below), the City is strategically located just North of Turia, is the Southern most viable port near the Plains, and is a logical major seaport for Turia. Kamras also is a key point within the narrow stretch of passable land which connects Central Gor to the Plains.

The objective of Razi is to stabilize the City and have commerce flow successfully once again.  While He is known as a fair and Honorable Man, He is One who has raided His fair share of caravans leading to and from Turia over His lifetime and the Council's choice of making Him Ubar, with absolute power, is risky.  To Whom will He be most loyal?

The rest of the story has yet to be written.

THE ROLEPLAY

Kamras has two primary public gates, one facing North and one South.  These gates are sun gates and are open during the daylight.  But even though the gates are open, they are still guarded and You will be watched and could be questioned upon entering the City. There are also public docks which can be rented when travelers arrive via ship.
The locals keep a central fire burning at all times within the open air market area and visitors are welcome to rest and be refreshed at the fire. While not a large City, Kamras is considered fair sized and has much to see and do.  Visitors are welcome to explore and stay for awhile at the Inn or for a longer term at the Guest houses.
There is a Camp of Tuchuk outside of the City to the South which is called the White Bosk Camp and it can be accessed via a sub room entrance.  This allows roleplayers the opportunity to experience whatever they prefer, City life or Camp life, or both.
