New to Free Form role play?

The whole basis of free form roleplay is giving a player the ability to create and grow a character through their own methods and desires. In FF roleplay you will encounter a vast landscape of creatures; creatures which you may not be used to playing with, or playing yourself. Any experience you have in other realms of roleplay doesn't necessarily have to be thrown out the window; the lore may be slightly different, but many of the same principles still apply. For example: a vampire is still a vampire, a werewolf is still a werewolf, and a mage is still a mage. While in some power systems you are vastly limited in the abilities that your creature has, in the realm of FF you are free to experiment with different areas of interest. As such, a vampire could very easily make friends with a mage and he could teach you magic -- or in turn, you could turn him into a vampire. What you begin with and what you end up with will nearly always be two very different things. In the earliest days of the Soul Assassins we were very nearly all vampires. Over the years, stories have evolved and so have characters. Many of us who originally began as kindred, have shifted and changed our character's very essence. We have become demons, valkyries, mages, wolves; the possiblity of character evolution is truly endless and is harnessed only by your own imagination. In many years of free form roleplay we have encountered more creatures than we will ever remember, including dragons, faeries, wizards, mages (there is a difference), elves, werewolves/cats/hyenas/crickets/justaboutanythingyoucouldthinkof, various offshoots of vampires, a TON of different demons, succubi, incubi, daemons..the list could go on and on. In short? (we know, too late) Don't be afraid to be creative, because your walking into an environment that is fueled by creativity. Our suggestion? Observe, ask questions, and read current roleplays going on around you. Final note? Jump in. Your story will never evolve if you don't begin writing it...
